Nnenna Ogbonna was raised in Nigeria by parents who were both teachers. She grew up learning two languages—Igbo and English—and experienced how language can carry family history, identity, and belonging.

She now lives in the United States and works as a registered nurse at Duke University Hospital. A mother of three, Nnenna loves reading novels, cooking, and travelling to new places. Amaka’s Visit to Grandma is her first picture book.

The story reflects her belief that sharing heritage can strengthen family relationships and bring generations together. Its Igbo translation gives young readers an invitation to begin learning the language themselves.
